BLIND DATE
Angel finds a dying man in a warehouse and is attacked by a blind woman with incredible strength who leaves behind only her sunglasses. Cordelia comes up with a suspect, Vanessa Brewer, who is on trial for double homicide and is represented by Wolfram & Hart. In court, as Lindsey McDonald makes his closing arguments, Angel throws the sunglasses to the woman who catches them without turning around. Lindsey’s boss, Holland, congratulates Lindsey on his victory in court and confesses that Vanessa gives him the creeps. Holland expresses concern for Lindsey, who admits he’s stressed. He tells Lindsey he’d like to see him move up in the firm and says that he knows Lindsey is questioning his future. He asks Lindsey to create a past for Vanessa, as she will soon be involved in a case that will require a strong defence, concerning children.

When Angel learns that Vanessa has been acquitted, he is enraged. He laments that he can’t fight Wolfram & Hart and the judicial system and questions his place in the world, confessing that he misses the simplicity and clarity of things when he was evil. Just as Angel complains that nothing ever changes, Lindsey tells Angel that Vanessa is going to kill some children. There are files in a vault at Wolfram & Hart that explain everything but the firm employs mind-readers and if he tried to acquire them he’d never get out alive. He has devised a plan: he’ll leave his pass so Angel can gain access to the vault, but only if a diversion can be created to get past the Wolfram & Hart shaman who can detect the presence of a vampire on the premises. Angel tells him that won’t be a problem.
Angel meets Gunn to ask for his help. Lindsey returns to Wolfram & Hart while Angel gains access through the tunnels. Lindsey creates a distraction to make sure Angel isn’t spotted on the security cameras; while Gunn is making a scene in the lobby, and two of his posse drop a bundle next to him, Angel climbs into the basement. In the surveillance room, the vampire-detecting shaman begins to squeal just as Gunn opens the bundle to reveal a startled vampire. Angel retrieves the ID badge, as Lindsey watches him on the monitor.
Once inside the security room, Angel is attacked by a demon that Lindsey warned him about. Thanks to Wesley, Angel has a powder, which he blows in the demon’s face, nullifying it. Angel finds the files and loads them into his briefcase. He’s about to leave when he is mysteriously drawn to an ornately carved cylinder. Picking it up, he sets off the alarm. He escapes just before the doors shut.
Upstairs, Lilah, Lee and Lindsey watch as Holland escorts two odd-looking women into one of the offices. Lindsey tells his cohorts they are mind-readers. All the lawyers gather to face them. Lee is discovered to have been meeting with another law firm and is shot dead. Holland then dismissed the lawyers, except Lindsey. Angel gives Cordy the encrypted disks while Wesley inspects the object which he discovers, is an ancient Aramaic scroll. Angel admits he doesn’t know why he took them and Wesley says he’ll translate them.
Holland says he knows Lindsey betrayed the firm. He assures Lindsey that he is not going to have him killed, because he believes he just needs a few days to think things over, and allows him to leave. Cordelia telephones Willow, who talks her though decrypting the disks. Cordelia gets into the files and discovers that Brewer’s powers come from studying the Nan Jin. They also discover that the three blind children, seers, are being brought together. Lindsey arrives and says that the children are a threat to Wolfram & Hart. Angel and Lindsey go to the safehouse in which the children are being kept to find Vanessa has beaten them to it. They fight. Angel uses his ability to remain absolutely still to combat the blind woman’s extrasensory powers. Finally he stabs Vanessa with her own cane.
Wesley tells Angel that the Scrolls of Aberjian mention a vampire with a soul. He says that there is a design to the world and he has a place in it. Holland is cleaning out his office when Lindsey returns to Wolfram & Hart. Lindsey tells his ex-boss that he’s made copies of the files to ensure his safety. Holland admires Lindsey for standing up to the firm and offers him his own job because he’s going upstairs. Lindsey sits at his new desk and gazes out over the lights of LA.
