Cordelia Chase was born into a wealthy family in Sunnydale, California.   A cheerleader during high school, Cordelia was the outspoken leader of the Cordettes, a group of popular girls that were in to hair, fashion, boys etc.  Cordelia’s the sort of person who says whatever’s on her mind, be it nice or nasty.

When Cordelia started dating Xander Harris, she soon found herself excommunicated from the Cordettes and hanging around Buffy and company more and more.  Her relationship with Xander ended when she caught him kissing Willow (BtVS, Season 3, "Lover’s Walk"), but she soon found herself oddly attracted to the new Watcher, Wesley Wyndam-Pryce, and the feeling was mutual.   Unfortunately the attraction instantly disappeared after an extremely awkward and non-passionate kiss the two shared (BtVS, Season 3, "Graduation Day Part 2").

Not long before graduating, Cordelia discovered that her parents had not paid their taxes for the last 12 years.  She lost everything…her money, her car, college, everything.   She didn’t even have the money to buy the prom dress she’d had her eye on for weeks (Xander bought it for her).

After surviving graduation, Cordelia moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career.  Cordelia schmoozed at Hollywood parties until she encountered the last person she expected to see, Angel.   When Angel saved her from the millionaire vampire, Russell Winters, she started up Angel Investigations with Angel and his newfound friend, Doyle.
