I WILL REMEMBER YOU
Cordelia and Doyle are concerned about Angel when he returns from secretly helping Buffy in Sunnydale. Angel is thrown off guard when Buffy arrives at the office demanding to know what gives him the right to see her but she can’t see him. As Cordelia and Doyle leave the office, a Mohra demon attacks Angel and Buffy before escaping through the window.
Angel and Buffy search the sewer tunnels for the demon and end up having another ‘heartbreaking sewer talk’ (refer to BtVS, Season 3, Episode 20, “The Prom”) before Angel wonders if the demon went above ground. Buffy climbs up into daylight while Angel continues searching the tunnels. He is attacked by the demon and the two fight. As Angel kills the demon, its blood mixes with his and makes him mortal.
Cordelia and Doyle are stunned to learn Angel has a pulse. Doyle finds out that the Mohra demon’s blood has regenerative qualities, which begs Angel to ask if the change is permanent. Doyle suggests Angel see The Oracles who tell him that he is released from his fealty and is free to live as a normal person. Buffy, who is in Santa Monica is surprised to see Angel stride up to her and kiss her in the daylight.
After having a serious talk about agreeing to just call each other instead of seeing each other, Buffy and Angel end up doing the wild thing. While Cordelia is wondering about what sort of job she can get with a very limited resume, Doyle has a vision that the Mohra demon has regenerated itself, but it’s now bigger and stronger. Doyle warns Angel who says that he’ll have to kill the demon again despite now being human. Angel and Doyle go to fight the demon but the two do not fair well. After Cordelia lets it slip as to where Angel is, Buffy saves him and kills the demon.

Realising that being human is not a good thing in order to be an effective warrior, Angel goes back to The Oracles and asks to be turned back into a vampire. The only way to do this is to swallow the last 24 hours. The only person who will remember what happened will be Angel. Angel tells Buffy what will happen as the clock winds down. Buffy and Angel return to where they were 24 hours prior, just before the Mohra demon attacks. Angel kills the demon then Buffy leaves.
