SANCTUARY
Angel puts Faith to bed and tells her to get some rest. Faith calls him back and, for an instant, imagines staking him. Cordelia, with a horribly swollen cheek, talks to an even more bruised and battered Wesley. Angel asks if there are doughnuts, which sparks and argument, Wesley telling Angel that he doesn’t understand why Faith is being treated so kindly after what she did. Angel reminds Wesley that they aren’t in the business of giving up on people. Angel says that they can’t pick and choose who gets saved. Cordelia tells him she’s taking a paid vacation as she has no desire to be around Faith. At the apartment where Faith held Wesley captive, the police are gathering evidence. A detective tells Kate Lockley that Faith is the prime suspect and says there are rumours she has 'super powers'.
The Wolfram & Hart lawyers discuss the failure of their plan. Lindsey admits the senior partners will not be pleased. Lee suggests that they kill Faith. Faith asks if she is a prisoner but Angel tells her she’s free to go. He reminds her she faced a similar choice once before and asks if she like the way things turned out. Faith asks Angel to help her. Wesley meets the Watcher’s Council group in a bar. Collins tells Wesley that the Council have made a mistake and offers to reinstate him if he’ll turn over Faith, reminding him how dangerous a rogue slayer can be The provide him with a sedative that will render Faith unconscious so that they can get her back to England for rehabilitation. Wesley agrees, under one condition: they are not to harm Angel.
Angel tells Faith that the first thing she has to do is apologise to Wesley. Faith argues there are some things you can’t take back. She says that buffy was her only friend and she repaid her by sleeping with her boyfriend. Realising she’s inadvertently told angel that Buffy is with someone else, Faith apologises and Angel tells her that saying sorry isn’t so hard. Wolfram & Hart send a demon after Angel and Faith. Faith kills it and then stares at her blood-soaked hands, horrified. Angel tries to comfort her just as Buffy arrives.
Buffy says that Giles told her Faith tried to kill Angel and was worried. Faith attempts to apologises to Buffy but Buffy threatens to beat her to death. Buffy and Angel begin to fight over Faith, so Angel sends Faith upstairs. Buffy sarcastically accuses Faith of playing angel, but he explains it was a cry for help and that he can relate to Faith. Buffy says that she can’t since, unlike them, she has never ‘murdered anyone’. Wesley comes downstairs with Faith, telling Angel they must leave because Collins’ group are expecting him to hand her over. Faith heads for the roof with Buffy following her.
Lindsey decides it’s time to change tactics. He goes to see Kate and tells her that they have an enemy in common and shows her a picture of Angel who, he says, is harbouring Faith. On the roof, Buffy tells Faith she’s not running. Faith begs Buffy to tell her how to make things better as Collins shoots at them. Together they leap to the adjacent building as a helicopter hovers above. Downstairs Weatherby points a crossbow at Angel and asks Wesley if the sacred oath he took as watcher was meaningless. Wesley says he swore to protect the innocent and shouts to Angel to get to the roof as he draws Weatherby’s fire before stabbing him with the syringe.
Buffy exchanges punches with Collins. As she takes out her combatant, Angel leaps through the skylight and grabs the helicopter’s base, pulling Smith from his seat. Angel orders the pilot to land. Faith, meanwhile, has fled.
Kate asks Angel where Faith is, but he remains silent. Kate orders his arrest and Angel is handcuffed and whisked away. Wesley and Buffy arrive at the station as Kate tells Angel that his cell affords him an excellent view of the sunrise. Angel sees Faith sitting handcuffed across the room saying that she wants to confess.
Buffy thinks Angel should have told her what was going on. Angel replies it wasn’t any of her business. It was her idea that they stay away from each other. Buffy retaliates by claiming she came out of fear for him; Angel believes she came for vengeance. Buffy says she’s in love with someone she trusts. Obviously hurt, Angel tells her it’s nice she’s found someone but that he’s not allowed to. He says she should go. Buffy sadly reflects that Faith has won again. Wesley asks Angel if he wants to go after Buffy. Angel says that he does. Wesley tells him he’s done the right thing with Faith. Angel disagrees: ‘Faith did it. ’ Wesley expresses hope that Faith finds peace. Angel says he thinks she has a chance.
