WAR ZONE

A young girl is followed by a gang of vampires, who think they have trapped her in an alley.   In reality it’s an ambush as Gunn steps forward, carrying a sword along with other vigilantes armed with stakes and crossbows.   They kill several vampires but one of the youngsters is fatally injured and they retreat to their headquarters, beneath an abandoned building.   Gunn’s sister, Alonna, questions his tactics, claiming he has a death wish.

Cordelia, Wesley and Angel meet billionaire David Nabbit at a party at his home.   He tells Angel that he was photographed in a demon brothel and is being blackmailed.   Angel visits Madam Dorion and Lena, from who Angel discovers that the blackmailer is called Lenny.   Angel is watched from the shadows by Gunn and his group who overhear Angel making arrangements to retrieve the photographs from Lenny the following night.   Nabbit writes a huge cheque to Angel Investigations.   Cordelia and Wesley thank him for his generosity though they remind him that the job is not yet finished.

Lenny meets Angel but as the pictures are delivered two demons attack Angel.   Weak from the fight, Angel is unprepared for a further attack by gunn and his gang.   The young vampire hunters drive him into a warehouse.   He escapes from a series of elaborate traps and grabs Alonna, using her as a shield.   Gunn tells Angel they’re going to kill him, but Angel releases Alonna as a show of good faith and then saves her life when Alonna inadvertently falls on a trip wire.   Gunn lets Angel go, but warns him not to come back.

Angel asks Wesley to find out where the kids live and surmises that there must be a vampire nest nearby.   At the nest Knox, the leader, complains to his group that they’ve become lazy and kills Ty, his right-hand man, as an example to the others. Alonna argues with her brother and Chain, believing that Angel could be of use, but they are unwilling to tryst him.   Angel finds the nest and beats information from one of the vampires.   Meanwhile, tear gas is thrown through the teenager’s warehouse window, but it’s a trap as the vampires snatch Alonna and whisk her away in a van.

Angel finds the group preparing to rescue Alonna.   He warns that they are walking into a trap.   Gunn floods the room with sunlight, forcing Angel into a meat locker.   At the vampire lair Gunn goes in alone and finds Alonna, but he is too late; she has become a vampire.   Alonna tells him not to be sad, she’s stronger than ever and explains that there’s no guilt of grief.   She argues that they can stay together for ever.   Angel fruitlessly tries to escape until Cordelia and Wesley free him.   Alonna reminisces with Gunn about their childhood and how he always protected her.   Gunn sadly says goodbye to his sister and kills her.

Angel arrives and tells Gunn that they need to get out.   Gunn’s friends rush into the building, just as the vampires come out of hiding.   Knox taunts Gunn about Alonna.   Angel tells Knox that LA is his territory.   Knox asks Angel who he is.   He replies, ‘The name’s Angelus,’ and then kills the vampire.   Wesley and Cordelia sit on a park bench discussing how hard a life the youngsters have led.   Angel and Gunn are on a rooftop.   Gunn says he doesn’t need any help.   ‘No,” Angel tells him, ‘but I might,’ and vanishes into the night.
